Job Navigation is a government-sponsored program intended to help unemployed people choose a career and get hired.  

Pattie occasionally takes odd jobs, but wants to be a fine artist.  Jacob is holding out for something that pays exceptionally well, but is incapable of doing anything.  Valerie is a former prostitute whose clients could no longer afford her, and Emily is a former lawyer who converted to conservative Christianity and decided that lawyering was not an appropriate job for a woman.
